Dr. Rhiannon Koehler presents a brief history of women in the film industry and their impact on the films we know and love. This is an insightful journey not only in the history of filmmaking but how women have influenced and shaped movies throughout history.

The filmmakers in attendance showing films will talk about their films, process, and what inspires them to make films. This is a great way to have an extend conversation about filmmaking with filmmakers of all levels from across the nation.

With our craft talk, Creating Your Character, Patrica Meyer will offer techniques in developing multi-dimensional, authentic characters. Through power-point and clips, we will explore and discuss how writers and directors can access and identify
the emotional and psychological complexities that inform a screenplay's characters in order for the story's experience to work on all levels.

Sarah Nicole Jones and Melissa Blake will discuss what to expect from the first meeting you take with a showrunner, to getting the job, navigating room politics and pitching, writing your episode, the notes process, your job on set as a writer, your possible role in editing and what do when your season/show ends.
